    I’m planning to marry my Filipino partner in Georgia and I’m a bit lost about what papers we’ll need. Some people say it’s easy but I want to be sure everything is accepted back home. Has anyone here gone through this process and can share what exactly needs to be prepared before flying there?

    You mainly need valid passports, birth certificates, and certificates of no marriage (CENOMAR) from the Philippines. Make sure they’re apostilled before you go because Georgia requires officially verified documents. Once there, you’ll need translations into Georgian, which can be arranged locally. We also submitted passport copies and filled out simple forms at the marriage office.     Thanks, that really helps. Do we have to book an appointment with the registry office before arriving, or can we handle everything once we’re in Georgia? Also, do they provide the translated marriage certificate or do we need to find someone for that ourselves?

    You can do both, but booking ahead is safer if you’re short on time. We scheduled everything through an agency and had the slot confirmed before our trip. They handled translations and notarizations too, so we didn’t have to look for separate services. The marriage certificate was ready in a day, and we got the apostilled version for use back home right after.
