Turkey is well known bird, however Chicken has occupied the Indian poultry market, therefore growth of Turkey farming is slow in India. Turkey meat is acceptable to almost all categories and religious groups in India. Turkey is reared mainly for meat, its egg production is limited , hence setting up of Turkey Layer farm is not recommended by expert. A number of commercial farms have been established in different regions of the country.
