A judge is the trier of law, who ensures everything happening in the courtroom follows the rules set down by the law. If a jury is not present in a court case, the judge becomes both the trier of fact and the trier of law. Who is responsible for insuring that the law is followed, and the jury determines the facts. In cases without a jury, the judge also is the finder of fact. Individuals who opt for a career as judge are appointed professionals who control over the trial and hearing of the judiciary in order to make decisions. Individuals who opt for a career as a judge are responsible for researching regulations and laws, issuing case decision making processes, overseeing the tasks of other employees of the court and consulting firms, meeting lawyers to analyse cases and encourage settlement, maintaining guidelines and practices of the court.
