Rubber adhesives is also known as Rubber Cement it is a solution of gum (rubber) in a solvent, which is used as an adhesive. It is used to join two pieces of rubber, involving a chemical cohesion process. While joining two pieces of rubber together, only one surface needs to be coated with the adhesive as they are same material. Whereas while joining paper together, both pieces need to be covered with adhesive. When the adhesive dries, only the parts in contact with the paper remain, which holds the two pieces together.
