Indian gooseberry or Aonla is an indigenous crop used in Ayurvedic medicines, herbs and many more. Now a days this has become a commercial fruit crop with high potentiality being used as resource to industries like food and beverages and pharmaceuticals. Consumption goods produced from this fruit crop are like: murabba, candy, aonla shreds, jam, pickles, powder, herbal jam, chwanprash, shampoo and hair dyes etc. Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer of aonla in India. In northeast region, this fruit crop is not yet cultivated for commercial purpose in larger chunk, however the future is bright and there is a great scope for the future expansion.
