An Apple a day keeps the Doctor away! This proverb is heard by every child in school, at home and evrywhere. This is because of the nutritional value an apple carries with it. Known by its scientific name Malus domestica Rosaceae, is consumed fresh but can be processed in to juices, Jam, jellies, canned slices etc. Hybrid varieties of Apple are Lal Ambri (Red Delicious x Ambri), Sunheri (Ambri x Golden Delicious) Chaubattia Princess and Chaubattia Anupam ( Early Shanburry x Red Delicious), Ambred (Red Delicious x Ambri), Ambrich ( Richared x Ambri), Amroyal ( Starking Delicious x Ambri). According to 2017-18 data of National Horticulture Board, top states producing highest number of apple in India are, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, Nagaland and Tamil Nadu.
